The Be Inspired event, held on March 26th, 2015 at the Field Club in Sarasota continues to be a money raiser for the non-profit organization, Springboard and its parent charity, Everyday Blessings, Inc. With matching funds from an anonymous donor from the Community Foundation of Sarasota, over $65,000 has been raised so far.
The Be Inspired event provided a night of inspirational stories to benefit the two organizations. Everyday Blessings cares for sibling group foster children. Springboard was founded by Bob and Joan Geyer to meet the needs of young adults aged 18-22 who are participating in the Extended Foster Care program or in danger of becoming homeless, as they transition into adult independence, including housing.
"The event continues to be a wonderful success for us," said Joan Geyer. "We appreciate everyone's generosity, especially the Community Foundation of Sarasota for matching funds, Eliza P. Culverhouse from Springfest (for a $10,000 donation) and Enterprise Rent-A-Car (for a $1,500 donation)."
The money raised will go toward buying computers, dollar-for-dollar savings account match programs for kids and new furniture for some of the Springboard participants. Some of the money will go to Everyday Blessings, Inc. for counseling and tutoring, beautification of the facility, as well as outings and special events for the children.
