What services were/are available for an 18 year old foster care youth? Before January 2014, there were no services available. These youth were simply expected to fend for themselves, even those still in high school. When Nancy Detert’s January 2014 legislative bill passed, the need of these youth was legitimized. Some government funding for the extended foster care was provided; some additional local, private funding and physical housing was donated; support services were offered by our parent organization – Everyday Blessings
. Now Springboard at 1735-1805 Hansen Street, Sarasota, FL 34231 is a reality.
Located in Sarasota, Springboard is an innovative program, designed to meet the many needs of young adults ages 18-22 who are participating in the Extended Foster Care Program or those in danger of becoming homeless.
